An association of Buddhist civic groups plans to hold a Buddhist service Friday in front of Seoul City Hall to urge the government to renegotiate the beef import deal with the United States.

The association on Tuesday told a news conference that after the service, the members of the groups will march down major streets starting from Jogye Temple to Seoul Plaza in downtown Seoul.

The Buddhist groups also called on the government to stop suppressing a civic group against mad cow disease.

They also called for the replacement of all the ministers and the police chief, stressing that the government should try its best to better communicate with the people.
